Chinese Premier Li’s Four-Day Mission to Islamabad Kicks Off Monday

ISLAMABAD (APP): From October 14โ€“17, 2024, Premier of the State Council of China Li Qiang is expected to make a four-day bilateral visit to Pakistan. During this visit, he will meet with Pakistan’s military and civil leadership and participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s Council of the Heads of Government meeting.

According to a curtain raiser released by the Foreign Office on Sunday, Premier Li will be accompanied by ministers and senior officials, including those from the ministries of foreign affairs and commerce, the National Development and Reform Commission, and the China International Development Cooperation Agency.

Leading their respective delegations, Premiers Li Qiang and Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif will conduct a thorough discussion of all facets of Pakistan-China relations, including trade and economic connections as well as cooperation under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Global and regional developments will also be discussed by the two parties.

The Chinese premier will meet with Pakistan’s top military officials and parliamentary leaders in addition to paying a visit to President Asif Ali Zardari. Additionally, on October 15โ€“16 in Islamabad, he will be present in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Council of Heads of Government Meeting.

A sign of the significance Pakistan and China place on their “All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership” is Premier Li’s visit to Islamabad.

It will be an opportunity to further the high-quality development of CPEC, strengthen regular discussions on significant regional and global trends, and reiterate mutual support on matters of fundamental interest.
